Veteran Technologists Mentoring Others To Become CNIM Certified
As most of you know, the CNIM certification is highly respected in the field of intraoperative monitoring and serves as the “gold standard” for the practitioners in the field. Hospitals and neurosurgeons have begun to request that the technologists they work with be CNIM certified. The exam is quite rigorous and demanding. Studying for it while working can be quite taxing especially when dealing with the irregular hours techs are asked to fulfill. It is easy to feel overwhelmed by the process and preparation for the exam. Several of our veteran technologists have stepped forward to voluntarily help fellow techs prepare for the exam by coaching and mentoring them. The following examples of mentoring are quite special as they have been done through long distance communication, working with techs outside of the veteran technologists’ own geographic areas.
Guy Bates, Amy Arnold, and Mindy Wakeman are senior technologists who are taking the time to help others prepare for the CNIM exam.
Guy Bates started working for Sentient in May of 2004 in the Tennessee LLC, and moved later in the year to assist with coverage in the Missouri LLC. He has had his CNIM certification since May of 2005 and became a Senior Technologist in December of 2006. Guy has helped train several individuals, and recently kept an open line of communication with a technologist studying for the exam in Virginia.
Amy Arnold, currently an Advanced Technologist, has worked for the company since February of 2004. She was originally stationed in Massachusetts, and has since moved to Connecticut to offer her assistance there. Amy passed the CNIM exam only eight short months after her hire date with Sentient. She has since helped to train over ten technologists. Amy recently made herself available for a technologist studying for the exam in the Carolinas.
Mindy Wakeman has been with the company for over three years and passed her CNIM exam within the same year of when she was hired. She was recently promoted to the position of Senior Technologist in Colorado. During her time with Sentient, she has helped to train approximately ten technologists. Mindy recently provided mentorship to a tech in the Carolinas studying for the exam.
These models of mentorship provide some insight to the type of committed employees we have working at Sentient Medical Systems. They are prime examples of the teamwork and leadership that resounds at Sentient, showing a degree of care and pride in what they do which in turn makes us stand apart from our competitors.
