June 2007 Sentient Heroes: John Bomgardner and Dave Hartman

June’s Sentient Heroes are John Bomgardner and Dave Hartman. They both work in the IT department at Headquarters and are responsible for securing headquarters and responding to alarms. Both worked in aiding Sentient Medical Systems and me via their swift response to a break-in at headquarters during the month of May. Dave Hartman, who lives closest to headquarters, was quick to arrive at headquarters when the alarm was triggered. Dave quickly surveyed the perimeter of the building, finding that an exterior glass door had been broken and used as a means of entering the building.

At that time of discovery, the Baltimore County Police Department arrived and entered the building doing a full search to confirm that there were no possible intruders within the building. It was during their search, that John Bomgardner arrived at headquarters. It became evident that company property was stolen following a search of the building by John and Dave. A police report was filed, and the police were finished with their portion. However, the door was broken so there was no successful way to re-arm the alarm and leave the building secure. John and Dave decided together to stay throughout the remainder of the evening to ensure that no intruder could return and that company property would remain in tact.  It is for their sense of responsibility and caring for the welfare of the company that we recognize them as SMS heroes.
